Suzukagawa-hagawa River is a short branch of Suzuka River (Suzuka-gawa) at the lower reach, and flows into Ise Bay. The estuary has a small tidal flat, where many waders, gulls, terns and ducks visit. You can enjoy these birds at a close distance. The best seasons are wader migrating seasons; spring (from end of April to mid-May) and autumn (from mid-August to September).
Waders; Whimbrel, Grey-tailed Tattler, Bar-tailed Godwit, Ruddy Turnstone, Greenshank, Redshank, Dunlin, Sanderling, Lesser Sand Plover, Greater Sand Plover (uncommon), Kentish Plover, and Grey Plover.
Terns; Little Tern, Common Tern, and Whiskered Tern (rare).
Gulls; Black-headed Gull, Herring Gull, Slaty-backed Gull, and Glaucous Gull (uncommon).
Ducks; Mallard, Spot-billed Duck, Northern Shoveler, and Wigeon.
Grebes; Black-necked Grebe, and Great Crested Grebe.
Rare birds recorded are Avocet, Chinese Egret, Brenta Goose, and Black-faced Spoonbill.
