Lower Reach of the Kumano River
The Kumano River is a big river and rises from Kii mountain and flows south and empties into Pacific Ocean at the border of Mie and Wakayama. The river mouth is a nice place for watching gulls and ducks in winter. Gulls; Major two species are Herring Gull and Black-tailed Gull. While, Slaty-backed Gull, Black-headed Gull, Common Gull, and Glaucous Gull are also mixed. Glaucous-winged Gull, and Black-legged Kittiwake are rarely recorded. The three major species of the ducks are Mallard, Spot-billed Duck, and Wigeon.
