The climbing trail near the summit

     A forest park and the climbing trail on Minami-matayama Mountain (982 m). The park is surrounded by deciduous forest dominated by birch. The parking lot is located at about 700 m in altitude. The climbing trail is well maintained but minimum climbing gear, such as raincoat, boots and food should be prepared. In early summer, songs of Blue-and-white Flycatcher welcome you. Crowned Willow Warbler also sings in this season. Tree Creeper, Japanese Green Woodpecker, White-backed Woodpecker, and various tit species are residents.
